Has anyone managed to run the DA14580 in Central mode? All the examples posted here are Peripheral mode. Alternatively, has anyone managed to talk HCI/GTL to the DA14580 from an external CPU?
Hello Lolo, I'll have the local team contact you to discuss the HCI option and specific examlpes we have for central mode. We have one example that is external MCU running proximity application.
Hello Andrew, the main central mode example we have today is the proximity monitor, using an external MCU which is in the SDK. We have customers using the device in role switching mode, but we dont have that as a released demo yet. Let me check on that for you.
Hello Andrew, we dont have anything coming in the next month as a released 'out of the box' demo for role switching . For external processor apps, we have just released an apps note on the GTL implementation : the URL is below.
The role switching examples i would anticipate will come sometime later in Q3. We have customers who have made their own propietary solution on the DA14580 with a peripheral/central role swap.

HCI : DA14580 acts as a standard Bluetooth HCI controller which supports dynamic Interface & Power Management Configuration. Everything above
GTL : Link layer, host protocols and Profiles run on the DA14580. Application controls DA14580 via Dialog proprietary HCI Generic Transport Layer (GTL).

I think GTL is very similar with HCI functionally.

Please note : DA14581 is optimised for HCI .
