Clock offsets are very important to Bluetooth, in order to properly function you need at least 50 ppm accurancy for your XTAL16 crystal by the BLE spec. If you skip this step your clock will probably drift without a correct trimming value. When in developing mode an avg value is used by software that works in most cases for our dk's.
