DSPS DK to DK demo Not working

Hi,

I have a DA14580 acting as the sps_device and a DA14583 acting as the sps_host, both using DSPSv5.150.2. I have connected to both using terraterm after loading the code as detailed in UM-B-038 (DA14580 Serial Port Service reference application manual) I am using the onboad UART port on the basic Dev kits for both and not the FTDI cable. Both devices are connected to completely separate computers.

My goal is to simply have the two basic DK's to act as a wireless UART connection between the computers

Currently i cannot transmit data between the kits - when entering data on one terminal, either nothing or incorrect characters will show up on the other terminal. Both computers are set to the 115200 baud. Is there something that I am missing?

Thanks!

Hi jasony,

Hi jasony,

Since you are using basic dev kits, you wont be able to use the UART of the ATMEL in order to push data to your terminals (since the segger driver doesn't support flow control), so as the User Manual indicates you will have to use an additional FTDI cable in order to transfer data. The flow control is not optional in DSPS so make sure that the proper wires from the FTDI cable are connected to the proper pins of your dev kits. Also make sure that your terminal emulators are properly configured to support this kind of flow control.

Thanks MT_dialog

Thanks for your reply! Out of

Thanks for your reply! Out of curiosity, is it possible to modify the code such that we do not use flow control? How should I modify this?

Thanks,
Jasony.

Hi jasony,

Hi jasony,

There is no implementation from Dialog to use DSPS without flow control but i am not able to see how this could be done, you should have somekind of flow control or at least an additional pin in order to wake up the device from sleep in order not to lose data.

Thanks MT_dialog
